What is RelaxHerb?
RelaxHerb is a natural treatment for anxiety which contains passion flower. Passion flower has been used to treat anxiety for many years.

What is passion flower?
Passion flower (Passiflora incarnata) is a genus of the Passifloraceae family of flowers which grow in Central and South America, as well as southern parts of the United States where it is known as Maypop.
It was widely used by Native Americans in North America to treat anxiety and insomnia. Europeans adopted the use of passion flower as a treatment for epilepsy initially. Over time it started to be used as a sedative.
The name "passion" refers to the religious symbolism which European Christian missionaries instilled upon it. They believed the visual aspects of the flower resembled key aspects of the passion of Christ. Around the world, the name of the flower usually stems from the geographical location at which it is found.
Today, passion flower extract can be found in a number of products marketed to treat anxiety and insomnia. Passion flower extract is available in tablets, liquid, teas and tinctures from pharmacies and health food shops.
How does RelaxHerb work?
RelaxHerb contains passion flower extract which has been traditionally used to treat anxiety, stress and insomnia.
The mechanism of RelaxHerb is unknown, though some scientists believe that passion flower extract increases the amount of Gamma-Aminobutric acid (GABA) in the brain.
Anxiety and stress are often linked to low GABA levels in the brain, so increasing the amount of this inhibitory neurotransmitter is believed to reduce the amount of neurological activity in the brain and treat anxiety.
It is debated whether GABA taken in tablets is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and effectively bind to GABAA receptors in the brain.
Despite the uncertainty of how it works and it's effectiveness, passion flower has been used historically for anxiety and stress, and has been observed to be effective.
The use of passion flower for anxiety is based on traditional use only. RelaxHerb is certified with a Traditional Herbal Registration (THR) which is overseen by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK.
How to take RelaxHerb
RelaxHerb are taken as one-a-day tablets.
Take one tablet once a day as required. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Side effects and cautions of RelaxHerb
You should always seek medical advice from your GP or a pharmacist before taking RelaxHerb.
Do not take RelaxHerb if any of the following apply to you:
- You are below the age of 18

If you experience the signs of an allergic reaction after taking RelaxHerb, stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical attention by going straight to your nearest accident and emergency department. Remember to take the packaging and any remaining tablets with you so that doctors know exactly what and how much you have taken.
Signs of an allergic reaction include:
- Difficulty breathing (wheezing)
- Dry, red, cracked skin
- Itchy, red, watery eyes
- Raised, itchy, red rash (hives)
- Stomach pain, nausea, vomiting or diarrhoea
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
- Tightness of the chest
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not take RelaxHerb if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you become pregnant while taking RelaxHerb, speak to your doctor for advice.
