As you can see, you will usually stay on a Wegovy dosage for four weeks before moving up to the next one. This isn't a rule that applies to everyone, though; some may stay on a low dose without moving up, or some may drop back down to a lower dose because of increased side effects.

Can I Increase My Dose Early?

No, you cannot increase your Wegovy dose early. The dosage schedule is designed to keep you safe and healthy. If you were to take too much Wegovy too soon, the side effects may become quite severe.

You also cannot increase your dosage before you have finished using your current pen. Only your clinician may approve dose increases.

What is the Wegovy Maintenance Dose?

The highest attainable dose of Wegovy is 7.2mg. This will be the maintenance dose if you are obese and have been on the 2.4mg, and still need additional help to lose weight. For most, however, 2.4mg will be the standard maintenance, and moving up must be clinician-approved first.

Store Wegovy pens safely and properly to ensure the medication lasts its full shelf life and stays as effective as possible. With two different kinds of pens, it’s important to know the storage procedure for both so that you are never caught off guard about what to do:

• 0.25-2.4mg Pens: Store in the fridge between 2-8°C while unopened, and either in the same place or at room temperature (below 30°C) while in use. They can be kept in this state for up to 6 weeks.
• 7.2mg Pens: Store in the fridge between 2-8°C while unopened, and either in the same place or at room temperature (below 30°C) before use. They can be kept unrefrigerated for up to 28 days.

Keep both types of Wegovy pens out of sight and reach of children and animals, away from direct light and moisture. When in the fridge, place them away from the cooling element.
