What is Cerumol Ear Drop Solution?

Cerumol Ear Drop Solution contains peanut oil and an antibacterial agent, which both help to loosen stubborn ear wax. It is presented in a liquid form for direct application to the ear.

What is Excessive ear wax (ear wax impaction)?

Some people get more ear wax build-up because they naturally produce more of it. Those who wear earplugs or earphones on a regular basis or insert cotton buds into the ears can also develop excessive ear wax.

Ear wax usually falls out by itself, most commonly during sleep. But anything that is put into the ear can potentially block the substance from leaving, and may even push ear wax further into the ear canal.

Excessive ear wax may lead to a temporary loss of hearing. It can also result in earache, itchiness, dizziness, ringing in the ears (Tinnitus) and even an ear infection.

How does Cerumol Ear Drop Solution work?

The medicine works by loosening the ear wax that had built up inside the ear. This makes it easier for the wax to fall out.

How do I use Cerumol Ear Drop Solution?

This medicine is for use in the ear only.

Prepare a small piece of cotton wool about the size of your thumbnail.

Lie on your bed or tilt your head to one side.

Using the provided dropper, insert 5 drops in the ear canal. You may notice a slight tingling feeling as the liquid goes into your ear.

Take your cotton pad and add a few drops of Cerumol or some petroleum jelly to it.

Place the cotton wool pad into the entrance to your ear. This helps to trap the ear drops in the ear canal.

After at least one hour, remove the pad.

Repeat the above steps for three days or until symptoms completely disappear.

In most cases the wax comes out by itself. If you find you still have wax remaining or need to use the medicine for more than three days, contact your GP.

Do not use Cerumol Ear Drops if you have an allergy to peanuts.
