Zineryt lotion is a topical acne treatment which contains an antibiotic called erythromycin.
The antibiotic kills the bacteria associated with acne, allowing the skin to naturally heal itself. The chemical complex contains zinc to help the medicine to be absorbed by the skin and to improve the healing capabilities.
Unlike acne creams, Zineryt does not come ready-made. Our pharmacist will pre-mix the chemicals before sending it to you. Once mixed, the medicine has a shelf life of between 5 and 8 weeks.
Zineryt is available to buy online from Prescription Doctor's online pharmacy. Simply fill out our online medical form for our doctor to review. If your order is approved before 3pm, a prescription for Zineryt will be issued for our UK based pharmacy to fulfil.
Our GPhC registered pharmacy will dispatch your item to your preferred address the same day for a next-day delivery. We ship all items in discreet packaging to ensure patient confidentiality.
Zineryt is a prescription-only medicine and is not available to buy over the counter.
There are a wide number of factors which can influence acne. Most people are aware that hormones are a major contributor in the development of acne. During puberty, when hormones like testosterone and progesterone begin to rise, acne starts to occur.
Some women may experience acne before their period or during the first few months of pregnancy, when progesterone levels are at their highest. Though the exact mechanism of how progesterone causes acne is not known, it is believed that high progestogen levels influence acne.
Aside from hormonal changes, acne can also simply be hereditary. Other contributing factors include:
If you suspect that your acne is a side effect of a medication you are currently taking, speak to your doctor. You should not stop taking a medicine your doctor has prescribed to you without first consulting your doctor.
While it's not as common as it once was for acne to be caused by make-up, due to the rise of non-comedogenic make-up, some ingredients used in cosmetic products can clog pores and contribute to the development of acne.
For acne to develop, there are generally 3 key pieces of criteria which need to be met.
Firstly, a pore in the skin becomes blocked. Pores are usually blocked by keratin - the material your hair and fingernails are made from - and dead skin.
Secondly, sebum begins to build up beneath the surface of the skin. Sebum is a waxy, oily substance which protects and hydrates your skin. It is secreted by sebaceous glands, which are located above hair follicles, just below the surface of the skin.
Thirdly and finally, bacteria, which feed on the sebum, begin to thrive. When they eat the sebum, they excrete fatty acids and other substances which irritate the surrounding tissues and cause inflammation.
The inflammation results in a red blemish on the surface of the skin.
There a number of different types of spots you can have including:
It's important not to pick, squeeze or scratch your acne. Doing so can create an open wound which is more susceptible to infection. Aside from infection, scarring can occur from picking or squeezing spots.
If a spot does break open and bleeds, apply pressure to the area until the bleeding stops. Clean the area with water.
Acne can have an effect on your mental health. If your acne is causing you distress, speak to your doctor.
Your doctor can discuss with you the most suitable course of treatment for you, including over-the-counter or prescription acne creams. They may also be able to help you identify factors which might be worsening your symptoms, such as cosmetic products or medicines.
Zineryt contains two key ingredients - an antibiotic called erythromycin and zinc.
Erythromycin kills the bacteria associated with acne. These bacteria thrive on the surplus of sebum which builds up in clogged pores. They excrete chemicals which irritate the skin and cause inflammation.
By reducing the amount of bacteria and their harmful excretions, the body is able to heal.
Zinc is believed to help the skin to heal faster and is used in a wide number of treatments for all manner of ailments, including dressings for wounds.
Together, the two key ingredients of zineryt help to significantly reduce acne, bringing relief from this debilitating condition.
Zineryt comes as a dry powder and a solvent which need to be mixed together before you can use it. Our pharmacist will mix the solution for you before they send it, so that it's ready to use right away.
The bottle comes with a special applicator pad built into the cap. The applicator pad makes it easier to evenly apply the lotion to your face.
Apply the solution twice daily. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose and mouth.
If you apply too much Zineryt, simply wipe it off with a tissue.
Let the Zineryt lotion dry before applying make-up, moisturisers or other skincare products, including other topical treatments.
If no improvement is seen within 8 weeks, or if acne worsens, stop using Zineryt and speak to your doctor.
If you are unsure on how to use Zineryt, consult the patient information leaflet enclosed with your medicine. If you still aren't sure, ask your doctor or a pharmacist.
It may take between 10 and 12 weeks of treatment with Zineryt for acne to clear up. If your acne returns, you may be able to restart treatment with Zineryt. Consult your doctor before restarting treatment.
