What is Janumet?

Janumet is an antidiabetic medication that comes in tablet form and is prescribed to people with type 2 diabetes.

It contains metformin and sitagliptin and is usually given to people when metformin alone is ineffective at lowering glucose levels in the blood. It can also be used in combination with insulin.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a common and lifelong condition that causes the afflicted to have a high level of glucose, or sugar, in their blood. It is most common in people who are overweight, inactive, or who have a family history of type 2 diabetes.

Glucose is the primary source of energy for our cells. Our bodies create insulin in order for our cells to properly absorb the glucose. Those with type 2 diabetes either can’t produce enough insulin, or their insulin is unable to efficiently transport glucose from the blood to the cells which need it.

Treating Diabetes

If left untreated, diabetes can lead to a host of health issues and symptoms. High levels of glucose in the blood over a period of time can affect the eyes, heart, kidneys and feet as well as cause hearing impairment and nerve damage.

It is therefore imperative to speak to your doctor before you buy Janumet online. Your doctor will be able to provide actionable steps to prevent your condition from worsening. Aside from medication, your doctor may advise changes to your diet and lifestyle. You should always follow your doctor's advice.

How Does Janumet Work?

Janumet contains metformin, which prevents the liver from producing glucose; this means less glucose is released into the bloodstream.

Sitagliptin then prompts the pancreas to create more insulin so that more glucose can be absorbed properly from the blood into the cells where they are required. Both of these actions decrease the amount of glucose in the blood.

Janumet should be taken alongside a balanced diet and regular exercise to lower blood glucose levels.

How Do I Take Janumet?

Take Janumet twice a day with food – once in the morning and once in the evening. Ideally, you should take Janumet with your breakfast and dinner.

You should always take Janumet as prescribed by your doctor.
