Dizziness has been reported in men over 75 taking Cialis. Diarrhoea has been reported more frequently in men over 65 years of age taking Cialis. 

Serious Side Effects of Cialis

Heart attack and stroke have been reported rarely in men taking Cialis. Most of these men had known heart problems before taking this medicine. Partial, temporary, or permanent decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes has also been rarely reported.

Some rare side effects of Cialis use have also been reported by men taking it, although they have not been observed in clinical trials. These include:

• Migraine
• Swelling of the face
• A serious allergic reaction that causes swelling of the face or throat
• Serious skin rashes
• Some disorders affecting blood flow to the eyes 
• Irregular heartbeats, angina, and sudden cardiac death.
• Distorted, dimmed, blurred central vision or sudden decrease of vision (frequency not known)

If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking Cialis and seek emergency medical help.

If you experience chest pains after during or after engaging in sexual activity, get into a semi-sitting position and try to relax. Do not use nitrate medications. Seek immediate medical help.

An uncommon side effect of Cialis use is a prolonged erection. In rare cases, this can become painful (a condition known as priapism). Seek emergency medical help if you experience an erection lasting longer than 4 hours.

Cialis Interactions and Warnings

Cialis is prescribed to adult men diagnosed with ED. You may be eligible if erectile dysfunction is affecting your sexual performance. A healthcare professional will assess your medical history, current medications, and heart health before prescribing. Cialis is not suitable for everyone, particularly those taking nitrates or certain heart medicines.

Do not take Cialis tablets if you:

• Are allergic to tadalafil or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• Are taking any form of organic nitrate or nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite. This group of medicines, often called nitrates, is used in the treatment of angina. Amyl nitrite is also found in the recreational drug ‘poppers’. 
• Have serious heart disease or have had a heart attack within the last 90 days.
• Have had a stroke within the last 6 months.
• Have low blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• Have ever had loss of vision because of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), a condition described as “stroke of the eye”
• Are taking riociguat

Cialis is not intended for use by women. Cialis is not suitable for children or adolescents under the age of 18.

Precautions Before Taking Cialis

Before taking Cialis, tell your prescriber if you have:

• Sickle cell anaemia (an abnormality of red blood cells)
• Multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow)
• Leukaemia (cancer of the blood cells)
• Any deformation of your penis
• A serious liver problem
• A severe kidney problem

It is not known if Cialis is effective in people who have had pelvic surgery or removal of part of the prostate in which nerves have been cut.

If you experience sudden changes in vision or hearing, stop taking Cialis and speak to your doctor immediately.

Cialis and Other Medicines

Cialis can interact with other medications. Tell your prescriber if you are taking any prescribed medicines, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, or herbal remedies. Do not take Cialis if you are already taking nitrates or a medication called riociguat.

Some medicines may interact with Cialis or alter its effectiveness. Tell your prescriber before taking Cialis if you are taking or have recently taken:

• An alpha blocker (used to treat high blood pressure or some urinary symptoms)
• Other medicines to treat high blood pressure
• A 5- alpha reductase inhibitor (used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia)
• Medicines such as ketoconazole tablets (to treat fungal infections) and protease inhibitors for the treatment of AIDS or
• HIV infection
• Phenobarbital, phenytoin, and carbamazepine (anticonvulsant medicines)
• Rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, or itraconazole.
• Other treatments for erectile dysfunction

Cialis contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to certain sugars, speak to your prescriber before taking Cialis.
