What is Aronix?

Aronix is a medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. It contains sildenafil as its active ingredient, the same clinically proven medication found in Viagra. Sildenafil has been used for many years and is one of the most widely studied treatments for ED worldwide.

Aronix works by helping improve blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation, making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection suitable for sex. It does not increase sexual desire and won't cause an erection on its own without stimulation. Aronix is available as a tablet and is taken only as needed, rather than daily.

Understanding Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) describes the difficulty in getting and maintaining an erection (this used to be referred to as impotence). Persistent ED can have a significant impact on a man's self-image and well-being, so it's important to seek support from your doctor if you're struggling with symptoms.

Erectile dysfunction is a common condition that affects men of all ages. One study found that around 52% of men aged 40-70 are affected by ED. Your risk of developing erectile dysfunction is influenced by a broad range of factors, including:

• Psychological health (stress, anxiety, and depression)
• Genetics
• Medical history
• Injury to sexual organs (including from surgical scarring)
• Medication side effects
• Obesity
• Alcohol
• Smoking

Lifestyle changes alone may not be enough to address the underlying causes of erectile dysfunction. Your doctor can support you in finding a treatment plan that is right for you.

How Does Aronix Work?

Aronix contains sildenafil, which belongs to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. These medicines work by targeting an enzyme that affects blood flow in the penis.

During sexual arousal, the body releases nitric oxide, which helps relax the blood vessels in the penis. Sildenafil enhances this natural process by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, thereby prolonging vasodilation. This leads to increased blood flow into the penis, supporting a firmer and longer-lasting erection.

It's important to note that Aronix only works when you are sexually stimulated. Taking the tablet alone will not cause an automatic erection. Instead, it helps the body respond more effectively to arousal.

Because sildenafil focuses on blood flow rather than hormones, it doesn't interfere with testosterone levels or fertility. Its effects are temporary, and normal erectile function returns once the medication wears off.

How Long Do Aronix Pills Take to Work?

The actual time it takes to achieve an erection varies from person to person. For most people, Aronix starts working within 30-60 minutes. It can be taken up to 4 hours before sexual activity. Remember to relax and take a patient approach. Aronix tablets may not work the first time, especially if it has been some time since you were last able to get a firm erection. It may take a couple of attempts, adjusting the timing to meet your needs, before achieving the desired results. Your doctor can advise you on alternative treatment options if you are still struggling to maintain an erection.

How Long Does Aronix Last?

When you take Aronix, you will need to be sexually aroused to get an erection. For most people, the effects of Aronix last for around 4 hours, though this may be longer. This does not mean you will have an erection for the entire time, just that it will be easier to achieve and maintain one.

If you have a persistent erection that lasts longer than 4 hours, this is a medical emergency, and you should seek immediate assistance.

How Effective is Aronix for Erectile Dysfunction

Aronix contains sildenafil, one of the most extensively studied treatments for erectile dysfunction. Its effectiveness has been confirmed in high-quality clinical trials involving men with different causes and severities of ED. Across studies, sildenafil consistently outperformed placebo in helping men achieve and maintain erections suitable for sexual activity.

One paper discussed the results of two sildenafil studies. The first study reported that 82% of people taking sildenafil 50 mg achieved an erection (>60% rigidity) compared to 53% who took a placebo. The median time of onset of an erection was also shorter in the sildenafil group, at 27 minutes compared to 50 minutes in the placebo group. The second study compared duration of action, with individuals taking sildenafil 100 mg having an average duration of an erection firm enough to have penetrative sex being 19.4 minutes compared to 3.9 minutes in the placebo group.

Another study had men take a flexible dose of sildenafil (between 10-100 mg) one hour before intercourse. It found that 93% of men reported improved erections. In the second phase of the study, men were randomly assigned to different doses of sildenafil or a placebo. The study reported that significant improvements in the frequency and duration of erections in the sildenafil group were maintained, whereas the men taking the placebo returned to pre-treatment values.

Overall, the evidence indicates that sildenafil is a reliable, well-established option for ED, and Aronix is expected to provide similar benefits when used as directed.

How to Take Aronix Tablets

Aronix tablets should be taken shortly (1 hour) before planned sexual activity, although they can start to work within 30 minutes. For best results, allow sufficient time for the medicine to take effect before sexual activity. You and your partner should engage in foreplay as if you were not taking a medicine for erectile dysfunction.

The tablet is swallowed whole with water. It can be taken with or without food, though high-fat meals may delay its onset. Grapefruit juice should be avoided as this can increase drug levels in the blood.

The recommended dose is one 50 mg tablet approximately 1 hour before sexual activity. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours. If you still cannot maintain an erection despite several attempts on different days, you should consult with your clinician. If you are using sildenafil via a prescription (POM), the dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg once a day.

If You Take Too Many Aronix Pills

If you take more Aronix than you should, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Taking more than the recommended dose may result in unwanted side effects (including severe ones). If you feel the effect of Aronix is too strong or too weak, speak to your clinician about alternative options that may be right for you.

Common Side Effects of Aronix Tablets

As with any medication, taking Aronix can cause unwanted side effects although not everyone will get them. These side effects are usually mild to moderate and of a short duration. However, if you are concerned about the impact of side effects, you should seek advice from your doctor.

Serious Side Effects of Aronix

Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

• Chest pains. If this occurs before, during or after sexual activity, get in a semi-sitting position and try to relax. Do not use nitrates to treat your chest pain
• A prolonged and sometimes painful erection lasting longer than 4 hours
• A sudden decrease or loss of vision
• An allergic reaction. Symptoms include sudden wheeziness, difficulty breathing or dizziness, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips or throat
• Serious skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN): Symptoms may include severe peeling and swelling of the skin, blistering of the mouth, genitals and around the eyes, and fever
• Seizures or fits

Aronix Warnings and Interactions

Aronix may be used by adult men diagnosed with erectile dysfunction. It's not suitable for everyone, so you will need a medical assessment to ensure it is safe for you to use.

Do not take Aronix pills if you:

• Do not have an erection problem
• Have been advised by your doctor to avoid sexual activity because of a heart or blood vessel problem
• Have a severe heart problem such as a recent heart attack or stroke (within the last 6 months), unstable angina, or severe cardiac failure
• Have a severe liver problem
• Have low blood pressure (below 90/50mmHg)
• Have ever had severe vision loss because of nerve damage in the eyes or have a rare inherited eye disease (such as retinitis pigmentosa)
• Have a deformity to the penis
• Are allergic to sildenafil or any other ingredient in the medicine

Precautions Before Use

You should make an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible within the first 6 months of using Aronix to ensure your erectile dysfunction is not caused by any serious health condition.

Your clinician will review your medical history to ensure you can safely take Aronix. You must tell them if any of the following apply to you:

• You have certain cardiovascular risk factors. These include getting breathless or chest pain with light to moderate physical activity, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, having had surgery to improve blood flow to your heart, and high blood pressure (even if it is currently being treated successfully with medication)
• You have ever had an erection lasting longer than 4 hours (priapism)
• You have a stomach ulcer or bleeding disorder
• You have previously been diagnosed with mild to moderate liver disease or severe kidney problems

Aronix and Other Medicines

Tell your clinician if you are taking or have recently taken any prescribed medications, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, or herbal remedies before taking Aronix.

Do not take Aronix if you take:

• Nitrate medicines. These include medicines to treat chest pain and heart failure (such as glyceryl trinitrate or isosorbide mononitrate), recreational drugs known as 'poppers' (alkyl nitrites), nicorandil, and sodium nitroprusside
• Riociguat or other guanylate cyclase stimulators (used to treat high blood pressure in the lungs)
• Ritonavir (a medicine used to treat HIV)

Your clinician will also want to review the following medications to ensure they are safe to use alongside Aronix:

• Medicines to treat fungal infections and antibiotics (itraconazole, ketoconazole, or erythromycin)
• Heartburn treatment (cimetidine)
• Other treatments for erectile dysfunction
• Alpha-blockers for the treatment of urinary problems due to an enlarged prostate (such as alfuzosin, doxazosin or tamsulosin)
• Medicines containing sacubitril/valsartan, used to treat heart failure
