How to Use Foundayo Effectively

Manufactured by the same company behind the widely successful Mounjaro injections, Foundayo is the newest GLP-1 (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1) weight-loss treatment to become available on the UK market. It sees high rates of weight loss, averaging around 12.4%, and is potentially easier to administer than its main rival, the Wegovy pill.

However, just because its administration is more straightforward, this does not mean that it can be glossed over. Foundayo will only be safe and effective if used correctly, and this article will outline how to do exactly that. We will take you through administration methods, factors that may affect administration and effectiveness, and a comparison with the Wegovy pill.

Who Can Take Foundayo?

Foundayo is prescribed for people who need help with their weight loss journey. To be eligible, your BMI (Body Mass Index) must be 30 or higher, or 27 or higher with at least one weight-related health issue. You must also not be allergic to Orforglipron, Foundayo’s active ingredient, or any other ingredients in the medication.

What Dose of Foundayo Should I Take?

If you are new to GLP-1 treatments, you will start on the lowest dose of Foundayo, which is 0.8 mg. The medication is quite strong, especially at higher doses, so your body must build up a suitable tolerance; otherwise, you may experience more frequent side effects. The treatment is safe and effective, but only when taken correctly and on the proper dosage schedule.

If you are switching from another GLP-1 treatment, you may be able to start Foundayo at a higher dosage. It has similar effects and side effects to treatments like Wegovy and Mounjaro, and the conversion is supported, provided you were already responding well to your established medication. Ultimately, your clinician will decide which Foundayo dose you start at, and there is no guaranteed or universal conversion rate.

More information about switching from Mounjaro to Foundayo can be found in a dedicated guide on our website.

How to Take Foundayo Pills

Taking Foundayo is very simple, much simpler than something like the Wegovy pill, which requires fasting before and after administration. For Foundayo, simply take the pill once a day, with or without food. It should be swallowed whole and taken no more frequently than your clinician tells you, which will be one pill per day.

When to Take Foundayo

Foundayo is versatile in how you take it, as you can take it at any time of day. Take it at the same time every day to help build a routine and keep your dosing regular. For example, you could take it first thing in the morning and leave the pack with a glass of water on your bedside table the night before. If you feel you may forget, set an alarm on your phone to help you remember.

What If I Forget to Take Foundayo Pills?

If you forget to take a dose of Foundayo pills, do not worry. Take that day's pill as soon as you remember, even if it is later than your usual schedule. If you go the whole day without taking it, take the next day's dose as usual - do not take two doses to make up for a missed one.

If you find you are regularly missing doses, speak to your clinician.

Can I Take Foundayo Pills With Other Medicines

Some medications should not be taken alongside Foundayo. Their ingredients could make one or both treatments less effective or cause serious side effects. You should inform your clinician about any medications you are currently on, have recently been on, or may be on in the near future, before starting Foundayo.

Interactable medications include those for the treatment of:

The listed medications do not necessarily mean you cannot use them alongside Foundayo, only that interactions may occur. Your clinician will help you through this. Further information on all of these treatments can be found in Foundayo’s Patient Information Leaflet.

Is Foundayo Easier to Take Than Wegovy Pills?

For most, Foundayo will be easier to take than the Wegovy pill. Foundayo requires no fasting, so you can take it at any time of day and easily fit it into your routine. You can take it regardless of when you last ate or when you plan to eat next.

The Wegovy pill, by comparison, can only be taken after a complete 8-hour fast - that means no food or drink, not even water. After taking it, you must fast for a further 30 minutes to allow the medication to be absorbed properly. Many people do this 8-hour fast overnight while sleeping, then take their Wegovy pill first thing in the morning.

How to Use Foundayo: Frequently Asked Questions

Foundayo is still new to the UK weight loss market, and information about it is still fresh. We are asked Foundayo-related questions daily, and here are a couple around its administration that we see come up the most:

Is Foundayo Safe to Use?

Yes, consistent clinical trials have shown Foundayo to be a safe and effective weight-loss aid, and the MHRA has approved it for use and distribution in the UK market. As long as you follow the correct dosage schedule and are medically supervised, it should remain safe and effective. Only purchase Foundayo from reputable sources and licensed pharmacies.

Can I Take Foundayo Every Other Day?

No, you cannot take Foundayo every other day. This practice is known as microdosing, and it is extremely ill-advised. The dosage schedule of Foundayo, or for any treatment, for that matter, is there to keep you safe. To achieve the best weight loss results, stick to the schedule. If you are struggling to remember a pill every day, perhaps a weekly treatment like Wegovy or Mounjaro is better suited to you.

Can You Take Foundayo With Food?

Yes, you can take Foundayo with or without food. Unlike the Wegovy pill, it has no fasting requirements. There is no specific type of food you should or should not take it with, though we do offer guides to what to eat while on a GLP-1 weight-loss treatment.

Can You Take Foundayo With Mounjaro?

No, you cannot take Foundayo at the same time as you take Mounjaro. The double GLP-1 dosage may be harmful for your body, resulting in more severe side effects or making you quite ill - it is high risk, no reward.

Can You Take Foundayo With Wegovy?

No, you cannot take Foundayo with Wegovy, as two doses of GLP-1 medications could be harmful. This applies to both forms of Wegovy (the pill and the injections) and to any other GLP-1 weight-loss treatments in general. Your clinician will never allow a double dosage to occur, as they will prioritise your safety above all else.
