Progynova TS transdermal patches are a hormonal replacement therapy for women who are going through the menopause. It is usually prescribed for women who have had their womb surgically removed - an operation called a hysterectomy.
The active ingredient of Progynova TS patches is an oestogen-analogue called oestradiol hemihydrate. It should be taken alongside another HRT which contains a progestogen.
Progynova TS patches are available in two strengths: 50mcg/24 hours and 100mcg/24 hours. Your doctor will determine which strength is most suitable for you.

Progynova TS patches contain oestradiol hemihydrate, a naturally occurring form of the female sex hormone oestrogen.
The patches allow the hormone to be absorbed through the skin over the course of 24 hours.

Progynova TS patches are applied to skin around the lower abdomen or the buttocks.
So long as the patch it applied correctly, you can bath or shower as normal. Take care when scrubbing skin around the patch to ensure the patch doesn't fall off.

Do not apply Progynova TS patches to the same place twice in a row. Always choose a different place to apply a new patch.
Progynova can be used in two ways; Continuous or cyclic.
Apply 1 patch per week. Remove the patch after 7 days and apply a new patch to a different place on your body.
Apply 1 patch per week for 3 weeks. Take a 7-day break before applying a new patch.
You will experience a withdrawal bleed once a month.

If you become pregnant while on Progynova TS patches, stop using the patches and inform your doctor right away.

Do not use Progynova TS patches past the expiry date printed on the packaging. The date refers to the last day of the specified month. For example, "EXP: 03/2025" means the 31st of March 2025.
Never throw away Progynova TS patches via water waste. Dispose of Progynova TS patches carefully by folding the patch in half with the sticky sides together, and put them in your household rubbish. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unwanted or unused medicine so as to minimise the damage on the environment.
Always store Progynova TS patches out of sight and reach from children and pets.
Never share your Progynova TS patches with anybody else, even if they are experiencing the same symptoms as you or have been diagnosed with the same condition.
If a patch falls off, reapply it as soon as you can. If you cannot reapply the patch, you can use a new patch for the remainder of the week.
Breakthrough bleeding and spotting may occur if you forget to apply a new Progynova TS patch for a few days.
If you accidentally apply more than one patch, you may experience nausea, vomiting, or menstrual-like bleeding. You should remove the patches if this occurs. Speak to your doctor or a pharmacist for further information.
If a patch falls off, you can either reapply the patch or use a new patch for the remainder of the week.
Progynova TS patches should not impact your ability to drive or operate machinery.
You can drink alcohol while on Progynova TS patches. You should avoid drinking more than the recommended weekly limit of 14 units of alcohol.
You should not drink grapefruit juice while on Progynova.
